The Perennial Hardy Water Lily.
Hardy in all zones 3 through 10, these magnificent Nymphaeas are divided into three groups - Odorata, Tuberosa and the more recent Marliac group.
All of the Marliac hybrids adapt best to garden pools while the odorata are best for naturalizing. The tuberosa group is somewhat limited. Of the hundreds of varieties of hardy water lilies, we have selected only those of great merit and have traveled the world in search of others.
Each year we will introduce some rare varieties and some entirely new ones. We will continue to concentrate on pygmy and semi-dwarf varieties that are so ideal for tub gardens, small pools and the shallows of larger pools.
Remember, water lilies are easy to grow but must be free of competition; the more sun they are given, the more they will flower. If they are refertilized each month during the growing season, the rewards will be great.
The water lily is such a great bargain since it will flower from May or June until deep frost. Because our plants go through the rigors of New England winters, we feel they will adapt well to all climates and will have stored more energy with a longer rest period.
The shipping season for hardies is late April until late September. The water lily is the exalted high ruler in the kingdon of flowering plants.
